Claremont Manor Retirement Community is looking to hire a competent Fitness Director to expand our community fitness program for seniors. The Fitness & Aquatic Director seeks ways to develop, enhance, promote, and sell the communities program. Serves as a role model to fitness and aquatic participants, prospects and the outside community. Performs public outreach via talks with mall and large groups and via media interviews. Qualified candidate will include interaction with residents such as assessments, nutritional guidance, training on fitness equipment and guidance on appropriate types of exercises.

To be successful in this position you must have a passion to work with seniors and be confident with your decision making abilities regarding a diverse range of activities. Preferred applicants are effective multitaskers, have the ability to motivate others and are observant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Follow and apply exercise norms/protocols per industry standards.

Instruct individuals and group classes with appropriate techniques.

Promotes and sells the FAC program.

Manages center’s operation including facilities, personnel, programs and budget.

Stimulates wellness programs for co-workers and works with other departments establishing wellness applications and continuum of services (i.e., food service, activities, therapy, etc).

Offers personal training and other fee-based services.

Maintains equipment as needed.

Responsible for budget management, fund raising; recruiting, hiring, developing, counseling and terminating staff.

Is responsible for the staff, residents and patrons’ satisfaction with the programs, assistance and outcomes as well as the financial accountability of the center.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: B.S. or M.S. in Exercise Science, physical education or kinesiology. Certification with ACSM, ACEM AFAA, or SFA helpful but not mandatory. Three to five years experience as a personal trainer, instructor, and/or assistant to a fitness or wellness director.
